Carpentry and Construction Services

Frame to Finish Carpentry: I have a whole array of hand tools, power tools, and knowledge about wood framing and wood carpentry, which is really at the core of this company. I can build most wood framed structures; This includes decks, floors, walls, roofs and stairs of all shapes and sizes. However, I’m a “one man band”, so I’m best suited for Small Projects (or small spaces), Renovations, Deck and Porches. I can also do some structural alterations to existing buildings. This might include adding a window or door to an exterior wall, installing a beam where a wall once was, or shoring up an existing floor or roof. I can also do interior finish work for new construction and renovations. This is typically the carpentry work left once the house has been insulated and the sheetrock has been installed. This would include installing interior doors, trims, finish stairs, wainscoting, paneling and hardware installations.

Insulation & Weatherization: While this isn’t a specialty, I am happy to insulate or re-insulate any spaces I work in. This includes air sealing structures, installing insulation batts or board insulation, occasionally renting an insulation blower to do an attic, and installing vapor barriers. This is primarily for renovation work and is usually limited to a few walls, ceilings or floors.

Sheetrock Installs and Mudding/Taping: Like insulation, I do install my own sheetrock as well as mud/tape work, but it is not a specialty. I have traditional hand tools for this work, but I can do walls and ceilings. This is limited to single room or small space renovations/repairs.

Window and Door Installs: I install a wide variety of doors and windows, and I don’t limit myself to one or two manufacturers. I will install windows and doors supplied by the customer. I will also walk a customer through the process of purchasing windows and doors to ensure they get what they are looking for. If I’m installing a new window or door into an existing space, I will inspect the framing and weather barriers, then advise if those need repair work. I also make a point to advise when NOT to replace a window or door. There are many cases in which a window or door has been installed incorrectly, and simply needs to be reinstalled, or that there is an issue with a part of that window/door that simply may need replacing.

Casework and Cabinet Installs: I install cabinets and I’ll build the occasional custom cabinet. This includes bathroom vanities, to full kitchen remodels. I will install factory cabinets purchased by the customer or refer the customer to the appropriate designer/supplier for assistance. Base cabinets will be set with a laser with the tops planed flat for solid surface counters. I install hardware and custom elements for said cabinets as well.
I can repair broken cabinets and fix-modify older installations.
I can install Custom Closets; either from a supplier or built onsite.

I can build & install board doors for interior or exterior applications. They can either be open-style or framed.
Most of the Custom Casework/Built-ins I’ve done tend to be built with lumber yard purchased pine products (square stock, tongue and groove, etc) so has a more rustic look to it. I can mill certain door stiles and rails with my router table, and I do have tools for pocket screwing, biscuit and dowel joining. Custom Casework and millwork is really a labor of love for me, so don’t be afraid to call and ask.

Painting and Staining: I will Prime/Paint and/or Stain/Poly all surfaces I work on. I use traditional tools for this. That means that products are either brushed or rolled onto the surface. I will mask surfaces where appropriate and do color match samples prior to finish work. Most of the work I do is interior, as I consider it part of the interior finish work (along with things like sheetrock). I will paint/stain exterior work for small repairs, or elements like Doors. I will also work with customers who prefer to do their own painting/staining and schedule my work such that they are given adequate time to do so. I will also order and have delivered items which customers wish to paint/stain beforehand.

Siding, Roofing & Weather Barriers: This is not a big part of what I do. However, I will repair some amount of vinyl/wood siding, exterior trims and asphalt shingle roofing. This is usually done in conjunction with some other kind of project like a door install, some rot repair, or a porch build. However, I do have vinyl siding tools and roofing tools to accomplish these fixes.

Small Repair & Handyman Projects: “Have tools – will work!” I’ve been asked to assemble Furniture, Install Window Shades, Install Tub/Shower Doors, fix holes in sheetrock, replace door knobs and weatherstripping, Install clothes lines and dog runs. No job is too small, so feel free to ask.
